Welcome to the South Asia Center's Alumni in South Asia Career Profile Series

 In this space you will find a series of postings featuring conversations between the South Asia Center and alumni from all walks of the university community. Through these conversations with individuals whose path toward commercial and social entrepreneurship after Penn has involve working in and engaging with the countries in South Asia. As the conversations make clear, there is no end to the fascinating and diverse ways that current students can build careers in the twenty-first century by exploring opportunities to work and study in the region.

 

April 2017: Laurent Demortier. Previous Managing Director and CEO for Crompton Greaves Ltd. He earned a Masters of Business Administration from the Wharton School in 1990.

January 2017: Gayani Abeyasinghe. Deputy General Manager at MAS Holdings in Sri Lanka. Wharton 2008. 

November 2016: Pratyoush Onta. Research Director for Martin Chautari. He earned his master's degree from the South Asia Studies Department and his PhD from the History Department of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in 1996. 

October 2016: Sondra Sen. President of Sherisen International Inc. She earned her master's degree from the South Asia Studies Department in 1969. 

September 2016: Anjan Ray. Regional Commercial Director, Renewable Energy & Chemicals (Asia Pacific) for Honeywell UOP. He earned his PhD from the Chemistry Department of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in 1989.

May 2016: Sanzar Kakar. Chairman at the Afghanistan Holding Group in Kabul, Afghanistan. School of Engineering 2005.

April 2016: Lavanya Ashok. Execituve Director for Goldman Sachs' private equity operations in India. Wharton 2004.
