Shirin Lutfeali, Senior Specialist for Basic Education and Literacy, Save the Children

on

"Numeracy Boost-math inside and outside the classroom-case studies from Pakistan and Bangladesh"

Shirin Lutfeali is the Senior Specialist for Basic Education and Literacy at Save the Children, where she has worked for the past four years.   In this role she provides technical support to country offices in the Asia region on program design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, partnerships, and government support and advocacy.  She has also been leading the development of a new numeracy intervention for early primary grades teachers which was piloted in Malawi and Bangladesh in 2012 and has been implemented in Pakistan, Egypt and soon, Liberia.  Shirin has worked in numerous post-conflict and emerging democracies such as Tajikistan, Egypt, and Afghanistan, where she has led projects involving increasing teacher quality and improving student learning outcomes.
