CU in India and Southeast Asia Deadline EXTENDED to April 1

There’s still time to apply for CU in India and Southeast Asia.  The extended deadline is Friday, April 1.  Please share this announcement widely.

 

"C.U. in India and Southeast Asia" is a 2-CU domestic/overseas course series that allows students to take a 2 hour/week class during the Fall semester,

travel to INDIA and/or SOUTHEAST ASIA for WINTER BREAK (Stay warm and thousands of miles away from minus zero weather!),

then finish the course for 1.5 hour/week in the Spring semester for a total of 2 C.U.s! 

Students can enroll in 1 or 2 courses and earn a total of 4 CUs!

A South Asia Studies Minor is only 6 CUs!

Earn a trip to India and/or Southeast Asia and a Minor in South Asian Studies next year! 

Apply for 1 OR 2 of the following courses: "Java, Indonesia: Hindu and Buddhist Worlds in Southeast Asia" and/or 

"Living Traditions of Indian Literature: A Journey through Western India"

Travel Fees

• ONE C.U. in India course: $5500* (pays for one 10-day trip to India, Dec. 22-31, 2016)

• ONE C.U. in Southeast Asia course: $5000* (pays for one 10-day trip to Indonesia, Jan. 1-10, 2017)

• ONE C.U. in Southeast Asia PLUS ONE C.U. in India course : $9500* (pays for both trips, with connected itineraries - a savings of $1000!)

 

Students with demonstrated financial need may apply for a travel fee waiver (see below).

 

WHAT’S COVERED: Penn tuition, international RT airfare, intra-trip travel - travel between cities once the group has arrived in the region, group transportation to included activities and organizational visits, overnight accommodations - the travel fee is based on double occupancy, activities and excursions as noted in the itinerary, most meals, fees, tips, taxes, and internet access throughout the program (where available).

NOT COVERED IN THE TRAVEL FEE: Visa fees, meals during free time periods, personal expenses and incidentals, and additional expenses including Visa, health-related needs (i.e. immunizations) and international health insurance, if needed.  A $300 deposit is required upon acceptance. 

FINANCIAL AID: Once you are accepted into the program, those students who are currently receiving Penn financial aid will have their financial aid packages recalculated to take the travel fee expense into consideration.

TRAVEL FEE WAIVER: Partial travel fee waivers are available for accepted students with demonstrated financial need.
