Penn Thillana presents
"Expressions: bhava: raga:tala "
4 PM, Venue: Harrison Auditorium, University of Pennsylvania Museum
Doors open at 3:30PM
It is the passion and purpose of Thillana to share various forms of Classical Indian dance with the Penn community. This show will be highlighting bharatanatyam, an artform that traces it roots to the ancient temples of South India where dancers engaged in story-telling through simple movement. The word bharatanatyam comes from the combination of bhava (expression), raaga (melody), and taala (rhythm), and is suitably named, for the essence of Classical Indian dance is to effectively combine these elements into a beautiful story.
Come share in our passion and be sure to save the date for an evening of expression, melody, rhythm and of course, bharatanatyam!
Tickets: $5 at Locust Walk and $7 at the Door.
