We're Hiring a Program and Events Coordinator!

The South Asia Center and the South Asia Studies Department are seeking a Program and Events Coordinator: 

The person in this position:

Provides administrative support and coordination for graduate and undergraduate students, event planning, and office maintenance in the Department of South Asia Studies. This position is the primary point of contact for the department for all inquiries in-person, email or phone. Provides event planning and coordination in the Department of South Asia Studies and the South Asia Center. Additionally, this position is the primary point of contact for both the center and the department for all inquiries in-person, email or phone, opening and closing the office daily. Handle purchases ensuring proper budgets are charged, recording all financial transactions and filing monthly expense reports with business office. Manage office, supplies, and equipment. Coordinate logistics, including meals, lodging, room reservation, and transportation, for ongoing Department Colloquium series, conferences, and special events as required. Help promote department (major/minor and courses) and Center by populating website, twitter and Facebook regularly, attending events, hosting events, and responding to all inquiries. Publicizing and administering undergraduate writing and research awards. Other duties as assigned.

The ideal canidate would have:
A High School Diploma and 5 to 7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in an academic environment, is required. Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of experience are strongly preferred. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills are essential. Strong PC skills in all aspects of Microsoft Office are expected; familiarity with University systems such as Ben Buys, SRS, Concur, and College Net is strongly desired. A positive, problem solving, customer service oriented attitude toward faculty, students (current and prospective), staff colleagues, and department visitors is essential.
