In partnership with the South Asia Center, Center for Africana Studies and the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, Penn’s Middle East Center Presents a panel of distinguished journalists including:

• Tom Burgis(The Financial Times) who will focus on Saudi Star Agricultural Development’s investment in farmland in Ethiopia.

• Claire Provost (Guardian contributor) who will discuss privatized and ceded land/property as a global phenomenon (with a focus on India.)

• Steve Sapienza(Pulitzer Center documentary producer) who will question the impact of Indian and Chinese investment in Myanmar’s natural resources.

• And Chris Arsenault (Thomson Reuters Foundation) who will explore the current status and impact of Muammar Gaddafi's deal in 2008 to lease 100,000 hectares of Mali’s best farmland. 

The panel will be moderated by Nick Ashburn, the Director for Emerging Market Strategies at the Wharton Social Impact Initiative, and co-host of “Dollars & Change” on SiriusXM Channel 111– Business Radio powered by the Wharton School.
