This event is an opportunity to discuss and reflect on Professor Ahmed's book, The Book of Conquest: The Chachnama and Muslim Origins in South Asia (Harvard University Press, 2016). The event will include a brief talk by Professor Ahmed, Assistant Professor of History at Columbia University, reflections on the book by graduate student Jawan Shir, and an audience question and discussion about how the book contributes to the field of Islamic history and of South Asia Studies more generally.   Date: Wednesday, May 9 Time: 4PM - 6PM Location: Williams Hall Room 826 *Participants are strongly encouraged to have read the book - or, at minimum, the introduction   The event is hosted by Tafsilan: Issues in Ethnographies of South Asia, a Graduate Student Reading Group in the Department of South Asia Studies with support from GAPSA and SASGov.
