South Asian Young Writers' Collective

This past summer Afsara Oreen and Sabring Singh founded the South Asian Young Writers' Collective (SYWC) through a seven-week writing workshop for high school girls in Philadelphia. Different themes were discussed each week. Topics varied from social concerns of South Asians in America, to the history of South Asian emigration, and South Asian culture and perspective.

By publishing their work on a public blog they were able to share what they learned through debate, discussion, guest speakers, and field trips around Philadelphia.

SYWC is hoping to continue to grow into a resource and connection. They are welcoming everyone to their blog to submit their own writing and join the growing community of South Asian writers.
