Post-Doctoral Fellow, Anthropology

 

Ambily Chelaplackel Sreedharan is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Anthropology working with Prof. Kathleen D. Morrison, Sally and Alvin V. Shoemaker Professor of Anthropology, Department of Anthropology, and Curator in charge of the Asian Section, University Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. She has beenworking as an Archaeologist in the Archaeological Survey of India, since 2013. She hails from Kerala and completed her M.A. in Archaeology with first rank from the Department of Archaeology, Kariavattom Campus, University of Kerala in 2008. Shesecured the University Grant Commission (India) -Junior Research Fellowship in 2008. Dr. Ambily completed her Ph.D. on the topic “Holocene Archaeology of PambaRiver Basin” under the supervision of Prof. Ajit Kumar in 2018 from the Department of Archaeology, University of Kerala. Her basic research interests are the Megalithic Culture of South India, Harappan Studies, the Early Historic Period of South India,Ceramics, Iconography, and Temple Architecture. She has actively participated in several explorations and excavations in various parts of India. She has attended a number of seminars and workshops and has several articles in national and international journals to her credit. She is the author of the book “Megalithic Culture of Kerala- A Study of Pamba River Basin” published by Sharada Publishing House, New Delhi. She was a participant in an intensive course on Petrography of Cultural Materials conducted by Dr. Marie-Claude Boileau (Director) at the Center for the Analysis of Archaeological Materials, Penn Museum, Philadelphia in 2022.
