Event
Sonny Mehta, artistic director of Riyaaz Qawwali, will be holding a workshop to discuss the history of qawwali and lesser known devotional art forms. The goal will be to shed light on the new face of America, which showed the largest percentage population growth of Indian and Pakistani immigrants (2010 US Census). Qawwali and other similar art forms make up a large, yet less-explored cultural heritage. These traditions are celebrated in the ethic communities, but have yet to be shared with the masses.
